Innovation description

"Bosön Sports and Conference Centre is implementing an innovative energy-efficiency renovation and management approach as part of the European SPORT-RENOV project, which aims to support the transition of sports facilities towards nearly-zero-energy buildings. The innovation focuses on improving the environmental performance of an existing sports complex through a combination of technological upgrades, data-driven facility management, and strategic planning.

The initiative includes the monitoring and analysis of energy consumption across Bosön's sports halls, swimming facilities, accommodation, and support buildings. Based on this data, opportunities for reducing energy use and improving operational efficiency are identified and prioritized. The project examines solutions related to heating, ventilation, cooling, and building management systems, as well as measures to optimize the overall energy performance of the campus.

Implementation has required collaboration between facility managers, the Swedish Sports Confederation, researchers, engineers, and European project partners. Bosön serves as a pilot and demonstration site where innovative renovation methods and management practices can be tested and evaluated in a real sports facility environment.
