The BXL Pump Park is a 110m long pump track and a kids track for the little ones located in Laeken. We offer a welcome desk, a refreshment bar and the loan of bikes and helmets at weekends. Borrow a BMX and try out the track!

We have just finalised an impact study for the BXL Pump Park. The Pump Park is proving to be a transformative urban facility, generating significant positive impacts on active mobility, public health and social cohesion. This survey of 114 respondents demonstrates its catalytic role in developing an inclusive and dynamic cycling culture. Key figures - 62 cycle regularly thanks to Pump Park - 97 found the location welcoming - 1722 people meet new people

Innovation description

The Pump Park was built on a site where there was a lot of waste. We cleaned up the site and then built the pump park. The Pump Park was built with asphalt. There is also a dolomite track. Medicinal plants have been planted and we maintain the green areas around the two cycle tracks. We have a guinguette where we serve organic drinks.

Pros of the Innovation

Thanks to the two cycle routes, local residents can ride safely on the tracks, improving their cycling skills and boosting their self-confidence by challenging themselves.

one of the two runways is made of asphalt, so the materials used do not have a high ecological value. but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
